Prefontaine Shorts for Perfect Pattern Parcel

Prefontaine Shorts at Our Family Four 22 Okay, it’s my last time on the Perfect Pattern Parcel #3 tour, but I have one more summer sew that I had to share today, these incredible shorts.  I made them!
They are the free pattern that is available when you spend $28 or more on the Perfect Pattern Parcel.

Pattern Parcel #3
If you have never heard about PPP before, here is what they are about.

Here at Perfect Pattern Parcel, we believe in supporting independent pattern designers. It’s our opinion that indie patterns are just, well, better than big box patterns, and we’re pretty sure our customers think so too. So, we allow customers to show their support in naming their own price for each Parcel. We also encourage customers to allocate part of their Parcel price to the charity in order to help classrooms in need. Pattern Parcel donates all profits after expenses from Parcel sales to the charity as well. Together we’ve raised almost $4,500 towards eliminating educational inequality.
Pretty amazing, right? Each parcel contains a group of fantastic patterns, you choose your price, and profits go to charity. If you’d like to partake as well, click on this button to go through to the sale and get your hands on this awesome bundle of patterns, including this shorts pattern!

Maxi Staple Dress at Our Family Four 20Red Staple Dress at Our Family Four 6
Last week I made a beautiful maxi dress here, I’ve already showed you my red dress here, and now shorts as well.
Prefontaine Shorts at Our Family Four 19I’ve never made myself shorts before, so I was sweating this at the beginning, but they turned out so great that I’ve already been planning my next few.  Actually as soon as I saw these by Dandelion Drift I was obsessed and wanted a pair for myself, but what fun is that in pattern tour if people sew things up exactly the same?  But I’m sure Teresa won’t mind if we have twin pairs in our wardrobes. 🙂

A few weeks ago I saw a pair of silky striped shorts in Zara and I’ve had them in my mind ever since, so I thought I’d go for a similar look with these.  The material is a very thin cotton, almost like sheet material although not as stiff.  If it looks familiar I used it on Hannah’s Gardenia Dress as well.
Prefontaine Shorts at Our Family Four 11I made the stripes vertical across the shorts’ legs and horizontal behind the pocket portion, which you can see a little bit in these pictures.
Prefontaine Shorts at Our Family Four 4The shorts were a little wider than I wanted across my hips, even though I cut my size according to my measurements, but I tried them on to test the fit before I stitched up the sides and was able to take them in to where I wanted them.  They also sit a little higher on my waist than I normally wear my shorts, which is easily remedied by folding the waistband over, but I think next time I will take about 1 1/2″ off the top of the shorts for a lower rise.
Prefontaine Shorts at Our Family Four 16Prefontaine Shorts at Our Family Four 17Also, did you notice anything about Hannah’s shorts in these pictures?  Like, that we’re twins?
Prefontaine Shorts at Our Family Four 2Yep, Hannah has got herself some girl’s Prefontaine Shorts as well.  This pattern was a part of the Perfect Pattern Parcel #2, but is now available here.  Hers are trimmed up with this adorable tiny floral bias tape that I’ve been hoardingfor just the right project, and this was it.
Prefontaine Shorts at Our Family Four 6Mine are trimmed with an ivory knit material.  I had to hand stitch this down on the waistband because it was all a bit too thick for my machine to take in when it was doubled over, but the rest of it sewed up like a dream.
Prefontaine Shorts at Our Family Four 21I still have one more Staple Dress to share, which is waiting for pictures, but I’m headed out of town tomorrow with Chris to Bath (!!!!) so I won’t be able to do it until next week.  It won’t make it into the pattern tour, but if you’d like to see, feel free to follow me on Bloglovin’ so you don’t miss it.
Only 2 days left to get these patterns at a special price, so grab it now for your summer time sewing!

  1. I love these pictures! You two look so adorable. Nice stripe matching on your shorts too.

It's super easy to lower the front waistband of the shorts. Just shorten them at the top center corner then grade it out to the front side corner. I do it all the time because I like them lower too.
